I really liked this waffle maker after receiving it. I felt it was designed well and is highly functional and easy to use.

I make 2 waffles twice every weekend with this Cusinart WAF-F20 and have been doing so for the last 10 months with great success. I really liked it.

Then, one weekend after cleanup, I looked at the rear support post and stared for awhile and asked myself "What an I looking at?"

I was dumbfound. The entire housing of this unit''s rear support post is made from cheap plastic. Plastic!

The center section, which has two sets of coils, one for the upper and one for the lower griddle portion get extremely hot and is within 1 inch of that rear post.

Cheap plastic and heat just don''t get along. Cheap plastic easily warps, swells, and weakens with heat. Now add to this the ever-so-slight "torque" that''s applied every time you turn the unit on its pivot and it hits the stop.

This heat on plastic, plus the torque, plus 10 months of use, and the entire rear support post split wide open, exposing the gearing mechanism and the wiring (see the Michael Clark review and pictures).

With great frustration, I have been in contact with Conair numerous times for a warranty replacement, and nearly a month later, still don''t have the replacement unit. Their customer service seems to need a regular kick in the pants to get moving.

So be aware, this unit requires you use "kid gloves" when operating it. Don''t clean the unit until it is completely cool and the plastic has firmed back up, and resist applying torque when pivoting the unit, especially when hot.

Update - less than 3 months old. Used about 6 times. Used it tonight and the hinge broke and flew off. See the photos. I had registered it on the Cuisinart site on purchase. So I sent customer service an email with the pics. Will update when they respond.

In the meantime, changing the rating from 5 to 2 ''cause it does make great waffles but this exploding hinge thing.......

5/31/17 Got the replacement waffle maker today. In order to get it I had to:
1- Pay Cuisinart $10 to ship the replacement
2- Send the broken one back which at the USPS cheapest rate was $30.68

Will have to think about it before I purchase another Cuisinart product (we have several).

We purchased the Cuisinart WAF-F20 Double Belgian Waffle Maker with high anticipations of making great tasting Belgian Waffles. However, it wasn''t meant to be. The first waffle maker was badly dented, so back it went with a replacement on the way. Two days later the second one arrived and it also had a dent in it, although not as bad as the first one. Both boxes were in good condition after shipping, so they apparently came that way from the factory. Back it went to Amazon with a third replacement on the way. We received it in two days, and it was a gem. It appeared to have been used with fingerprints all over it and batter stains running down the sides. Also, the mechanism that holds the griddle in place after turning was loose and did not hold it level. I would guess this was the reason the first owners returned it. So, back it went for a refund. After the third one, we just gave up. What a shame.

We take waffles seriously in our family. My MIL has perfected a batter and you have to get married to find out the recipe. We bought this to replace a Kitchenaid double belgian waffle maker that got wet and stopped working. What a disappointment. This feels so plastic and cheaply made. Used it for the first time today and I don''t expect it to last long. The waffle iron itself is smaller in diameter and depth than the kitchenaid, the batter was constantly spilling out the sides. The waffles to not come out crispy. We tried spray oil, butter and extended cooking times, but the waffles were either floppy or burned. There is no timer - seriously?? I decided to give it two stars instead of one because I realize that we are extra picky aout waffle makers but this oe was just flat out disappointing. The sad thing is I researched and researched and this was the best option I could fine. I realize that small applianes are meant to be disposable these days, but they should at least work well while they work. This one does not.

I received a Cuisnart WAF-F20 Double Belgian Waffle Maker from Amazon on July 17, 2019. I first attempted to use it on September 6, 2019 which, unfortunately, was past Amazon''s return window. When I turned it on, it began to beep continuously and then shut itself off. I attempted to turn it on several times, with the same results. Since it was then beyond the Amazon return window, I attempted to contact Cuisinart''s consumer service by ''phone. Every time I called I was put on hold for almost two hours, after which I gave up and hung up. I then tried to contact them via email on September 6, 2019. I was asked to provide them with the make, model number, and proof of purchase, which I did. Since then, I''ve tried to contact them several times to find out whether and when I would receive a replacement (it''s under a three-year warranty). As of October 3, 2019 I haven''t heard back from Cuisinart. My advice is that if you purchase a Cuisinart product from Amazon, check it out to be sure it works before the Amazon return window expires (typically 30 days after purchase). Otherwise you''ll have to deal with the folks at Cuisinart consumer service and, like me, may not get a replacement for months, if ever.

My 40-year quest to find the perfect waffle maker ended when I purchased this double flip model. Over the decades I had bought and used a number of different non-flip models (Delonghi, Cuisinart, All-Clad). All suffered from the same problem of requiring more precise filling than I was capable of -- too much batter and it oozed out the sides and made a big mess, but too little and the waffles ended up with bald spots. Then I started paying attention to the waffle makers that hotels use for brunch. From Frankfurt to Burlington to Savannah, they all used flip-style waffle makers. So I hunted down and tried this model. It works great! The flip action distributes the batter evenly. No oozing, and no bald spots. And the thermometer/timer works very well -- I set it around 4 and when the beeper sounds I have perfectly golden brown waffles every time. The waffles release easily, and there''s minimal cleanup. There''s a similar flip model that makes just one waffle, but I strongly recommend this double flip, since it makes it super simple to produce a steady stream of waffles for hungry nieces and nephews. BTW, this model was sold under the Waring brand name until recently (hence the WAF model number). Conair owns Waring and Cuisinart, and as far as I can tell this Cuisinart is exactly the same as the Waring (we''ve been using the Waring for several years, and recently bought the Cuisinart-badged model for use at Grandma''s house). Best. Waffle. Maker. Ever.

    The bad:
    1) the waffle plates are not removable, for cleaning and, so far, with only one use, that''s not a problem; the plates did easily wipe clean,
    2) the unit takes about 5 minutes, to preheat, to operating temperature,
    3) the provided electrical cord is short and needs an extension, unless you can get it within about 2 feet of a wall socket,
    4) the outside of the waffle-making area gets very hot and
    5) the unit takes almost a half hour, to cool, after being used.

We bought this waffle iron because it was recommended by America''s Test Kitchen. After about 3 uses, the rotating hinge broke. My husband is handy, so he repaired it and we have been able to use it about 8 more times after the repair. This morning, the heating element in the middle stopped working, so the waffles cooked on the top, but not the middle. For as infrequently as we make waffles, we should have had this waffle maker for decades; not so much.

This is the second Cuisinart appliance I have purchased that HAS NOT lived up to expectations. Not impressed with the brand. It''s supposed to be a more premium brand. Premium CRAP.

I bought this waffle iron to replace the one I accidentally baked in the oven (note to self - don''t store things that can''t be baked in the oven). I took the opportunity to get a double waffle iron, and I love the fact that I can do waffles so much more quickly than before. The waffle iron works pretty well. I do find that one side cooks faster than the other, but I just wait until both sides lights are green to take out waffles. The flipping mechanism has gotten a little loose and the waffle iron will lean slightly to one side if left to itself, but will go level if you reposition it. Minor issue, but I''d love to know how to tighten that mechanism. I''m actually unsure of how to wash the device - you can''t immerse it, and it''s pretty big to hold over a sink. I''ve been wiping the outside down with paper towels (it''s a good idea to put a cookie sheet under it, because oil/butter gets everywhere if you grease the grids. The cup is the ideal size for pouring waffle mix - if you pour a bit extra, the device pops open a bit, but it still works well. Overall, I''m satisfied with this purchase, but a little worried about whether it will be durable or not.

Its only drawback was only one waffle at a time-we rarely used the omelet maker part of it. This new one makes just as good waffles, so nice to have 2 at a time especially when we have company for breakfast! Only negative is that there is no light to indicate when it is turned on, just comes on when it is hot or the waffle is done. I seriously burned my hand when I rested it on the top, as I did not notice that the switch was in the on position when I plugged it in. A lesson learned to both turn it off and unplug it when finished cooking! I would certainly recommend this product.

We''re using this in our cafe a couple of mornings per week, so it''s getting a moderately heavy workout for what is a consumer appliance. Makes great waffles - crisp on the outside and fluffy on inside (use a buttermilk recipe!). As other reviewers have noted, it''s difficult to clean, there''s no proper drip tray, and the swivel which allows the two cooking surfaces to rotate around the body appears to be wearing out rather quickly. However when you consider a similarly capable commercial waffle maker costs at least 3 times as much, we''ll make do with this one and when it quits, we''ll probably purchase another one.

After reading many reviews I knew to preheat then spray with Pam before pouring in just less than a full cup (the one included) of batter. They turned out amazing from the very first 2 we made. Making waffles at home means we have already saved at least 4 times the cost for this maker and counting. It is very well built and we look forward to using it often.

This was my first time using a waffle maker. Just followed the included instructions and succeeded very easily. Set the heating dial at 4.5 for my taste. Gives a medium browning. Leave the first 2 waffles a few seconds longer to cook after beep. Not quite hot enough. Will heat up more after. Make sure to fill the measuring cup completely with the batter and spread it out with a spatula to cover the entire mold to get a perfectly round waffle. First recipe made was with baking powder. The second time I made the recipe in the booklet with Yeast. The extra effort to make it with yeast is really worth it. Crispy on the outside and so deliciously moist on the inside. So goood ! Really glad I bought this unit.
